Wilderness Run Vineyards

A of couple weeks ago, I went to my first wine tasting in Virginia. Living five minutes away from a winery has its perks! I went with one of my best friends, Tara. I was never a big wine drinker, but Wilderness Run definitely changed my perspective. The vineyard is beautiful, and has such a homey, backyard vibe feel to it.
When Tara and I arrived, we walked to the back of the barn where there was a country music cover band playing, and picnic tables all around. We put our stuff down at a table, and were immediately greeted by a peacock, who must be the mascot of the vineyard, as she walked all around the area, greeting everyone. After settling, we went inside to where the tasting takes place. I was ready for some hefty prices, however, I was shocked. I paid for a tasting of seven Virginian wines, a souvenir glass, and a bottle to share for barely anything. The staff was wonderful and very kind, and also gave me a decent amount of information of all of the different wines I tasted. I ended up choosing a Rosé that they actually substituted in, as they were out of the one they normally serve at the tastings. I am not a fan of very sweet or bitter wines, but this one was a good in-between taste, and was perfect for a hot summer evening.
I'd love to go back to Wilderness Run Vineyards soon, as I really enjoyed my time there. It was a great way to relax, and have some fun! If you are twenty-one or older, this is great activity to do with friends in the summer; and if you live in the area, go check out Wilderness Run Vineyards.
