Downtown Girl

One of my favorite places in Virginia is Downtown Fredericksburg. Living only 30 minutes away from it when I was in high school, and then being a 2 minute walk from campus, I've discovered a lot of great spots to go. Whether it's by yourself or with friends, here's a list of some of my favorite spots in Downtown FXBG:

1. Curitiba Art Cafe - This cafe is fairly new, but it already has made such an impact on me. This Brazilian themed cafe has great drinks and treats, as well as the perfect cozy spots to sit down and do work in. They not only sure coffee and pastries, but also sandwiches, açaí bowls, and alcoholic beverages. This is a place I definitely will be studying at once school starts back up. There are many cafes downtown, but this one is probably the best for study, and has the best food.

2. Hyperion - While we're on the subjects of coffee, this is a classic coffee shop that every FXBG resident knows of. Right on the corner of William St. and Princess Anne St., this cafe is hard to miss when downtown.

3. Benny Vitali's - If you like Pizza, then Benny's is the place to go. It's known for having the largest sliced pizza in the state. Most of you reading this have probably been there, and know that they do not tax. They also  have monthly toppings that change, so that you don't always have to resort in getting cheese, pepperoni, or sausage. The best monthly toppings I've had there is bruschetta, philly steak, and spicy sausage. Those three slices are my favorite, and I always am excited to see those up there when a new month comes along. If you want good pizza for an inexpensive price, go to Benny's!

4. Goolrick's - While on the topic of food, another great and inexpensive place to eat is at Goolrick's. They have great sandwiches for an inexpensive price. When walking in, I always feel as though I have walked back in time to the 1950's.

5. Market Square - Market Square is by far my favorite place in Downtown. There is always an event or music playing there and it's a great place to go sit with friends. I love to get either Benny's or Goolrick's, and then walk to Market Square to eat. This place is so beautiful and not only has that square but little streets leading to it that have cute chalk art and aesthetically pleasing doorways and walls for the perfect Instagram photo.

6. Wally's - Although Carl's is an amazing ice cream place, Wally's has so me of the best ice cream in Virginia to me. There are so many different flavors and it is so inexpensive! I highly recommend this place to go when downtown on a hot day, or just in each of good ice cream.

7. Carl's - Can't leave out the classic ice cream shop to go to when in Fredericksburg. This soft served place is great, and also inexpensive to go to. The line can get quite long, but it is worth the wait.

8. Latitude's - One of the cutest, and unique boutiques in Downtown. This place sells nicknacks of all sorts, and you'll find something for everyone you know! It is the perfect place to get gifts for friends and family.

9. Chatham Manor - For a beautiful walk through a garden, and a bit of a history lesson, go to Chatham Manor. This place is absolutely beautiful, and has a great view of Downtown Fredericksburg, since it is a little outside of Downtown area.

10. The Parking Garage - I know what you're thinking, "Why would I want to go to a parking garage?", but it's more for the view than anything else. It has one of the greatest views within downtown, and I absolutely love going up there to see it!

I left out so many more amazing places to go in downtown, but I wanted to keep the list to 10 for now. If you would like to know of some specific places to go, or another blog post of more places to go see, leave a comment below. If you're ever in Fredericksburg, be sure to check out these great places.
